More than 17,000 fans celebrated 20 years of “Durch den Monsun” in Berlin: On Friday evening, August 15, in summer temperatures, the four musicians of Tokio Hotel took the audience at the ParkbΓΌhne Wuhlheide on a musical journey through the band’s history. Very special VIP guests were also celebrating in the audience: Heidi Klum (52) along with her mother Erna (81) and son Johan (18).

Heidi Klum sends a heart to the stage via “Kiss Cam”

The wife of guitarist Tom Kaulitz (35) once again drew all eyes to herself. She came wearing a tight white lace bodysuit with a long skirt casually wrapped around her hips. Her mother also chose a white summery outfit. When the “Kiss Cam” was directed at the model, she sent her loved one a special message of love: she formed a heart with her hands.

Heidi Klum also celebrated her husband on Instagram – and multiple times at that. She posted a video showing the couple starting their Friday. With the words “Good morning, my darling, today is the day of all days”, she woke up her Tom, after which they both toasted to the anniversary at breakfast. Later, she published a video of the sold-out open-air gig and gushed with many heart emojis: “You were simply amazing.” In her stories, she also gave insight into the exuberant after-show party.

Toasting to the anniversary

The band itself wrote in a video to their fans: “Thank you so much! We had so much fun celebrating 20 years of Monsun with you!” For the anniversary, the four musicians, who once started as a school band in Magdeburg, ignited a true firework display on stage: Frontman Bill Kaulitz (35) descended onto the stage, accompanied by numerous fire fountains. “This is the biggest show we’ve ever played in Berlin”, he emphasized, as reported by “Bild”. “We’re celebrating 20 years of ‘Durch den Monsun’!” Afterwards, he treated himself to a glass of champagne and called out the phrase made famous by the Kaulitz Netflix series: “The party has arrived!”

A rain shower for the finale

The party also included a surprise appearance by the band Kraftclub. The fans, in turn, surprised Tokio Hotel by holding up papers with rainbow hearts and the inscription “We are Tokio Hotel” during the song “How To Love”. After two hours came the grand finale. When Tokio Hotel’s most successful hit “Durch den Monsun” finally played, the fans couldn’t contain themselves. Fittingly for the song title, water from sprinkler systems rained down on the fans, providing a welcome cooling effect in the heat.
