Helene Fischer and Otto Waalkes Join Forces
Helene Fischer (40) and Otto Waalkes (76) have announced a surprising collaboration. The two artists will release a version of the well-known children’s song “Baby Shark” together. This is reported by the “Bild” newspaper, citing information from the record label Universal Music.
A first video of the collaboration already surfaced on Wednesday on fan pages via Instagram and TikTok. The approximately 30-second clip shows Fischer and Waalkes performing the song in an animated comic environment. Fischer takes on the singing part of “Mama Shark”, while Waalkes appears as “Papa Shark”. The comedian once again slips into his well-known role as “Baby-Otto”, which has previously featured him in a baby carriage.
Single as Precursor to New Album
According to “Bild”, the single’s release is planned for August 8, 2025. The song will be part of Fischer’s new children’s album “Die schΓΆnsten Kinderlieder (Tanzen & Feiern)”, scheduled for release in September. This is already the schlager queen’s second children’s music project following her successful album “Die schΓΆnsten Kinderlieder” from last year. Fischer had previously stated multiple times that creating music for children was a matter close to her heart.
The song “Baby Shark” is considered one of the most successful children’s songs in recent years. Originally created as a traditional campfire song, it gained international recognition in 2015 through the South Korean company Pinkfong. The accompanying YouTube video has reached around 16 billion views to date, making it one of the most-watched videos on the platform.
