Heidi Klum’s Kids Strike a Pose During ‘College Move In Day’ & the Rare Family Photo Is Refreshingly Normal
This was a big week for Heidi Klum – she sent her third child off to college! The supermodel shared a rare picture in an elevator with sons Johan, 18, Henry, 19, and daughter Leni, 21, who she shares with ex-husband Seal, as they all helped Johan move into his college dorm.
“College move in day NYC ❤️🗽,” the Project Runway host captioned the post. All four of them are wearing black as they carry items to the dorm room. From the way they pose for the camera, you can tell they are already experts at posing for the camera!
Last fall, Klum told PEOPLE that her artistic son wants to go to college in New York. “Today, we actually toured Parsons [School of Design] for my second son, Johan,” she said. “Johan is very much into the arts and making clothes. So today we toured Parsons.”
She didn’t confirm if that’s where Johan is going, but she did say that it’s somewhere in New York City.
Even though Klum still has one child at home (daughter Lou, 15), we bet seeing Johan start his college journey will be hard for her. In August 2022, when Leni went to college, Klum struggled with anxiety.
“It’s crazy, today she had her first day in college,” Klum said on The Late Late Show with James Corden. “This weekend, she just moved in, and I call her. Normally she picks up, but then three, four hours I don’t hear anything. And already, my head is going ‘Where is she? What is she doing? Why is she not answering?’ Already the worrying is starting.”
She added that she tried Leni “every two hours” and was panicking. “Now I want the number of the roommate, so I can bug the roommate if she doesn’t pick up … And then I’m going to get the number from the neighbor,” she added.
Hopefully she’s a little more prepared now that her third child is going to college. But still, nothing will ever completely take away a parent’s anxiety.
In a previous interview with SheKnows, Klum got vulnerable about her fears for her kids. “With all your kids, the biggest fear is, that people will put too many rocks in their way, and they won’t know how to kick those rocks to the side or jump over them, or that people are mean to them,” she told us. “You want your kids to be happy. You don’t want them to be bullied or talked bad to. So that’s really the only fear ever, is that your kids are not happy in the place that they’re in.”
She added, “The hardest thing is also to kind of let them go and do their thing without always being the helicopter parent hovering always. You know, I’ve hovered for a very long time. And I feel like now is the time to let go a little bit.”
