Heidi Klum’s Just Debuted What Is Going to Be the Next Bangs Trend
100% yes to the chic ‘70s rebel vibes.
Amid the big and voluminous ‘90s blowout we’re seeing everywhere right now, supermodel Heidi Klum recently opted for the exactly opposite. Her summer hair refresh channels all the ‘70s rocker energy, and is a very clear departure from the star’s long, blonde layers she’s so well known for.
“It’s such a fun, different look,” says Amanda Aldana, stylist for Nova Arts Salon. “I feel like Heidi likes doing something out of the norm so this makes sense to me. The sleek straight vibe and the heavy bang feel like the opposite of what we see the girlies in Hollywood doing right now.” Anya Martin, also a stylist at Nova Arts Salon, says, “This look is much more avant-garde, shag-inspired, with that rocker touch we don’t usually see on her.”
While this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Klum with bangs, this is definitely one of the edgiest looks we’ve seen her wear. It’s also a pretty big change compared to her preferred hairstyle over the last few years. That said, this rebellious hair reinvention feels super on brand for the supermodel, who’s known for going for big changes that feel authentic to who she is versus just following a trend.
Aldana says this actually plays into a broader shift we’re seeing in the beauty and fashion industry, at large, which is all about hyper-personalization. Historically, social media has a way of turning out the same look over and again, but people are increasingly wanting to stand out and do their own thing.
“I definitely feel as though more clients have been coming to my chair ready for a change and contemplating bangs,” Aldana says. “It’s been pretty fun. I love a switch in energy, so I’m all for it.”
Martin agrees. She says, “This shift is happening in the hair industry, yes, but I think it’s a worldwide phenomenon of people embracing experimentation. Social media has made everything less taboo, especially trying out a new makeup or hair look for the first time. I believe we are all more open overall.”
That said, if you’re digging the choppy style with rocker-esque bangs, go for it. Aldana says there’s a way to customize the look to your face shape and personal preferences, and that “there is a bang length for everyone”—even if you’ve always felt like you could never do them. Consider this your sign!
