Heidi Klum returned as host for the 21st season of Project Runway, which premiered last Thursday (31) on Freeform.

“It was a very easy yes for me,” Klum told USA TODAY about her comeback. The 52-year-old German model left the series in 2018 after 16 seasons.

After her farewell, she and the show’s original mentor, Tim Gunn, went on to create the fashion reality show Making the Cut on Amazon Prime, which ran for three seasons.

Karlie Kloss took over Klum’s role on Project Runway, followed by Christian Siriano. Now, Siriano, who won the 4th season, will resume his role as mentor.

In the 21st season, 12 contestants will compete for a cash prize of $200,000, a feature in Elle magazine, and mentorship from the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Klum will be a judge this season alongside Elle’s editor-in-chief, Nina Garcia, and celebrity stylist Law Roach. “I helped create the show, I love the show, and it’s my first baby. Why not come back to my first baby?”
