Heidi Klum and her 21-year-old daughter, Leni Klum, made a rare joint appearance at Venice Film Festival’s opening ceremony. 

The mother-daughter duo stepped out on the red carpet Wednesday, August 27, wearing similar gowns in different colors: Heidi’s silky dress was blush pink, with sheer cutouts on the bodice and a bustier neckline.

Meanwhile, Leni sported a black version with an open back and low-rise skirt.

Both women wore their hair long and accessorized with striking statement necklaces, Heidi’s diamond and Leni’s emerald. 

The dresses were custom made by the Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi, an official sponsor of the film fest that runs through September 6. 

Besides Heidi, 52, and Leni, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton and Francis Ford Coppola also walked the carpet at Sala Grande ahead of the premiere of the film La Grazia.

The Project Runway alum shares Leni with ex Flavio Briatore, whom she dated from March 2003 through the end of that year, when she announced that she was expecting their first child. Heidi gave birth to Leni in May 2004, after she had moved on with singer Seal. 

The supermodel married the “Kiss From a Rose” singer in 2005, and Seal adopted Leni four years later. He and Klum went on to welcome three children together — Henry, 19; Johan, 18; and Lou, 15 — before announcing their separation in January 2012. Two years later, they finalized their divorce. 

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal, and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate,” Heidi and Seal shared in a joint statement circa 2012. “We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.”

Heidi has since remarried, tying the knot with Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz in February 2019.

Earlier this month, Heidi took to Instagram and posted a photo of herself posing with Leni, Henry and Johan as she got the latter settled at school in New York. “College move in day NYC ❤️🗽,” Klum captioned the picture, which showed the family crammed inside an elevator. 

Though Heidi did not disclose where Johan is going to school, she recently told People that he was interested in Parsons School of Design.

“Johan is very much into the arts and making clothes,” Klum said in October 2024. “So today, we toured Parsons.”

Leni has also followed in her mom’s fashion-forward footsteps, collaborating with Heidi on various campaigns. Henry walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week in January and strutted down the catwalk at Kith’s show in New York in August 2024. Ever the proud parent, Heidi sat in the front row for that NoHo event, documenting Henry’s strut via Instagram.

“So many beautiful Models on the @kith catwalk in New York tonight, but I only have eyes for you @henrygunthersamuel,” she wrote at the time.
