America’s Got Talent Season 20 premiered on NBC on May 27 2025, viewers at home were quick to notice some big changes at the judge’s table for Spring 2025.

Not only was fan fave Mel B back in action after a lengthy vacation, but the iconic Heidi Klum was MIA.  Mel joined regular judges Simon Cowell, Howie Mandell,   Why did Heidi leave AGT?  Keep reading to find out!

Mel B Returns To AGT

If you follow America’s Got Talent spoilers online, then you probably were already aware of the network’s judge shake-ups.

During the Season 20 premiere last week, Mel B wasted no time getting REAL with the acts that were on stage.  In fact, that’s reportedly one of the reasons she left the series back in 2019.

When news broke of the Spice Girl’s return to AGT a few months ago, Mel told People Magazine, “I’m beyond thrilled to be back at AGT – not only is it the 20th anniversary of the show, but it’s also a real homecoming for me, and I couldn’t be happier or more excited to be back.  So fasten your seatbelts, everyone, because I’m here, and I’m going to stir things up and be my usual loud, proud, Scary Spice self.  This season is going to be unmissable!”

Where Did Heidi Klum Go

Mel B’s return is definitely exciting, but fans can’t help but wonder why Heidi Klum left America’s Got Talent.  It’s no secret that Klum is one of the highest paid celebrity judges on primetime.

Rumor has it Mel B might have replaced her because the network could no longer afford to keep the supermodel on payroll.

America’s Got Talent hasn’t had the greatest ratings over the years, it may be hard justifying paying someone that much to be one the show.

On the other hand, there is also another plausible reason that Heidi Klum isn’t on America’s Got Talent Season 20.  Klum actually is set to make an iconic return this year to her former stomping grounds Project Runway on Freeform.
