Heidi Klum Shines in Rare Photo with All 4 of Her Children at German Festival
After saying auf weidersehen to designers on the set of “Project Runway” Season 21 this summer, Heidi Klum is celebrating a well-deserved break from the competition series with a family trip to her native Germany.
The supermodel and television host – who recently left her post as a judge “America’s Got Talent” to stage a spectacular return to “Project Runway” – was spotted by fans in Munich on Thursday (September 18) as she attended her selfmade Bavarian-inspired celebration: HeidiFest by Heidi Klum.
The Klum Family Reunite on the HeidiFest Red Carpet
Klum, 52, was joined in attendance by her husband, Tom Kaulitz, her mother, Erna Klum, and her brother-in-law, Bill Kaulitz. Her four children – Leni, 21, whom she shares with Italian businessman Flavio Briatore, Henry Samuel, 20, Johan Samuel, 18, and Lou Samuel, 15, all of whom she co-parents with her ex-husband Seal – similarly joined their mom on the red carpet for the inaugural festival.
During the event, the family posed for photos decked out in traditional Bavarian attire.
GettyKlum herself sported a red and white dirndl – a traditional dress that originated in the Alpine regions of Austria – complete with a lace-up corset and wide apron skirt. Ever the model, Klum elevated the look with a red flower crown and a necklace that read “Tom” in honor of her 36-year-old husband.
GettyThe men of the family donned customary lederhosen paired with colorful vests and button up shirts, with Klum’s son Johan bringing fashion to the festival with a pair of glittery silver platform boots. Meanwhile, the women – including Henry’s girlfriend Kayla Betulius – wore variations of Klum’s drindl in shades of white, blue, cream and green.
Heidi Reflects on Her Kids Growing Up and Moving On
Between her busy schedule filming “Project Runway” and the busy schedules of her children – the eldest two of whom have followed in their mother’s footsteps to become world-renowned models – it’s rare for Klum to get all four of her kids together for a family photo these days.
“When they’re young, you’re worried they’re going to jump in the pool or stick their finger in a socket,” said Klum of her children in a July interview with People. “Then they’re driving. Then it’s sex, drugs and rock and roll.”
Despite her anxieties as her children enter adulthood, Klum added, “You hope the seed you planted in them grows. That they’re good people. That they’re healthy.”
Klum’s eldest daughter, Leni, launched her modeling career at just 16 years old, posing alongside her mother in the pages of Vogue Germany. She has since starred in a series of lingerie advertisements for Intimissimi as well as appearing as a guest judge on “Germany’s Next Topmodel.”
Henry Samuel similarly made his runway debut earlier this year, signing a modeling contract with Next Management before appearing on the cover of Hunger Magazine in July.
Meanwhile, Klum’s youngest son, Johan, recently began his freshman year of college in New York City with aspirations to become a fashion designer.
While it’s clear that Klum has passed down her supermodel genes to all of her children, her youngest daughter, Lou, is the only member of the Klum family who shares the fashion icon’s love of Halloween.
“I was hoping that I would pass this on even to my kids, but out of four, there’s only one that really is going for it and that’s Lou,” Heidi said in a 2021 interview with People, noting that her baby girl takes dressing up for the holiday very seriously by donning “full on makeup, the hair, [and] all the accessories.”
