German pop star Helene Fischer had to stop her concert after slashing her face open while swinging from a trapeze on stage as she was belting out her song, Wounds

A German pop star cut her face open in a terrifying accident while she was swinging from a trapeze on stage.

Helen Fishcher, 38, was ironically belting out her track Wounds when the incident happened.

Swinging several feet above the audience during one of her acrobatic performances in Hannover last night, the singer suddenly dropped and hit her head against the trapeze.

Helene’s face was covered in blood from a deep wound on her nose, however she bravely tried to persevere with her track, Wounds, before calling time on the gig.

At the end of the song, the trooper was carried off stage by her crew as she reassured the worried audience: “I just need to clean this up first, my darlings. Everything is alright.”

However, 15 minutes later, the extent of the star’s injuries proved too much for the seasoned singer as the concert was cancelled after one hour following the “medical necessity”.

German newspaper Bild reports there was “one weird sound” as the accident happened.

Another report said someone in the audience had cried in shock when they saw the pop star with blood streaming down her face on the big screens.

The fan added: ‘Of course one can understand the cancellation after an accident like this. I hope she recovers quickly.’

A spokesperson for concert organiser Live Nation said the singer was given medical attention and that there wasn’t any information about the nature of her injury available yet, reports MailOnline.

Videos of Helen’s gruesome injury soon went viral on social media, with many praising the singer for continuing to perform despite her horrific injury.

Helene is known for her acrobatic performances and already suffered a broken rib in March after an accident during rehearsals.

Fans were worried the Schlager star would have to cancel her concerts, but luckily for them Helene announced on Instagram her tour would start as planned in Hamburg on April 11.

“April brings new energies. We’ll see each other in a few days because I got the green light from the doctor. I’m so happy,” she said.

“Now there’s really nothing stopping me. I’m really looking forward to seeing you, I hope you’ll be there.”

Helene’s stadium tour will now hopefully continue in August in Cologne after a planned summer break.

The singer is known for her outlandish, Circus-inspired shows with a load of dangerous stunts and stunning vocals.

Most of Helene’s songs are in German and loved by audiences in her homeland, Austria and Switzerland, where she puts on several concerts each year.
