“They will evolve and new players and rivals will emerge,” Boris Becker reflects on the uncertain future dominance in tennis between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz

Boris Becker thinks it’s too early to tip the scales in Carlos Alcaraz-Jannik Sinner debate.

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz are the next generation of players in tennis as they have risen the ranks to be the World No. 1 and No. 3 respectively. Over the last two years, they have stirred their rivalry, which is becoming the next big thing in the sport.

However, when asked who will be the better tennis player between the two, not many have a definitive answer. Boris Becker was asked the same question in a recent interview with Relevo. The German coach is also uncertain about the future of these two youngsters and suggested that the world should wait longer to decide who will dominate the sport next.

It is impossible to say which of the two players will dominate tennis in the coming years. From a young age, at 22 and 21 years old, they both have pressure. If we compare them with Federer, Nadal and Djokovic would have to play 15 more years. Maybe then we will be able to know which is better in five years because they will evolve and new players and rivals will emerge.

Boris Becker said

It has only been three years since both of them set foot on the big stage and first competed with each other. Even before their big matches, Alcaraz had beaten Sinner. Officially, they have played each other nine times, with the Spaniard winning five of those encounters.

Toni Nadal sides with Carlos Alcaraz to be a more dominant player in the future

In the same interview, the uncle of Rafael NadalToni Nadal also made a choice on which youngster will dominate the sport in the future. The Spaniard sided with Carlos Alcaraz without any hesitation.

Alcaraz is better. He does more things on the court than Sinner. I see Alcaraz with more options to do more things.

Tony Nadal said in the same interview

He revealed that he found Alcaraz played more varieties of shots than Jannik Sinner and also stated that the Spaniard has a better mentality than the Italian. Sinner’s fans may not agree with his stance, but Toni Nadal has made a strong decision in one of the most discussed topics in recent tennis debates.
