It’s been almost two years since Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and his ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole parted ways.
Following their breakup, Kelce has made headlines for his new relationship with 14-time Grammy winner Taylor Swift. The two have been together for about a year now, and Swift’s presence at her boyfriend’s NFL games has become a major event.
The national broadcast shows her several times throughout the game, and it’s a spectacle every time she enters and exits the stadium.
On Thursday, WNBA star Angel Reese released the latest episode of her podcast, “Unapologetically Angel,” featuring a special guest appearance by Nicole. One topic of discussion was whether Nicole had seen Kelce in public since their breakup.
The sports and entertainment journalist admitted she had run into him before, and if it were to happen again, she “would probably hit him with a head nod.”
“I would probably hit him with a head nod. That’s about it,” Nicole said. “We’ve seen each other in public spaces, but I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation that there’s just no room really for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy. Just keep it moving.”
Nicole then discussed what it was like when she was with him, claiming, “he’s a great guy.”
“It was a good time,” Nicole added. “It was great. He’s a great guy. That was a good time in my life. So many lessons learned. But that’s with every relationship.”
The whole breakup was tough for Nicole, especially with all the attention it received afterward from Swift fans. When Reese asked if she’d consider another public relationship, she shot it down.
“I don’t see myself doing that anytime soon,” Nicole said. “And I think, ultimately, people can’t pick at what they don’t know about. I would just protect my relationships from here on out. I don’t want to deal with that ever again.”
Through it all, Kelce, arguably the best tight end in NFL history, has continued to do his thing on the field. He’s won three of the last four Super Bowls, and in five games so far this season, he’s accumulated 24 receptions and 228 yards.
The Chiefs have a bye in Week 6, but in Week 7, they’ll hit the road to face the San Francisco 49ers. Kickoff on Oct. 20 is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.
